Bi-regional cooperation projects have been an effective means to strengthen governmental and institutional ties between European and Asian higher education and research.
In addition to the multitude of bi-lateral cooperation projects, partnerships and exchange programmes that exist between Asian institutions and European institutions, as well as country-to-country agreements, the European Union sponsors a variety of funding programmes for EU-Asia cooperation in higher education and research. Though some of these programmes have been completed, lasting relationships and networks remain.
